Watertown Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Join us November 8th at 11:30 am at the Watertown Event Center for this year’s induction of 4 individuals into the Watertown Hall of Fame.
This year's inductees are:
Herb Jenson
Doug Carpenter
Jim Mahowald
David J. Law
Herb Jenson- was the Mayor of the City of Watertown from 1980-1992. Known across town simply as Herb, he is credited with creating the phrase “The City on the Go”. Jenson was also the long-time manager of Dakota Poultry in Watertown.
Doug Carpenter- for years was “The Leader of the Band” in Watertown. In addition to spending many years as the band director at Watertown High School, Carpenter was the director of the Watertown Community Band for decades.
Jim Mahowald- was the guy who had everything you needed under one roof, as he operated Mahowald Hardware for over 50 years. Mahowald also served for many years on the Watertown School Board.
David J. Law- has been the voice of news in Watertown for the past 48 years. Law started his news career at KSDR Radio in 1971, and is still the news director at KXLG. “David J” is one of the most recognized names in the news business across South Dakota.
The induction ceremony will be held Friday, November 8th at the Watertown Event Center beginning at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are available at the Watertown Chamber of Commerce by calling 605-886-5814.
