• Ag Scholarships

  • The Watertown Area Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee in conjunction with the Watertown Area Community Foundation will award four academic scholarships to high school graduates who have been accepted into a post-secondary education endeavor (college or technical school) and are enrolled and attending that post-secondary education at the time the scholarship is presented. Applicants and their families must also have been consistently active and involved in agriculture, 4-H, and/or the Watertown Winter Farm Show. (i.e., participant, exhibitor, worker, or committee member).

    Applications are due to the Chamber office by Friday, October 13th, 2023. Applicants only need to fill out one form to be considered for all four scholarships.

    FRED MORRIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - $1000

    The Ag Committee established the Fred Morris Memorial Scholarship in 1988 to recognize long-time extension agent, Fred Morris. Open to residents not only in Codington County, but surrounding counties as well. Scholarship will be awarded to a student who has been consistently active (or whose family has been) in the Watertown Winter Farm Show.

     

    LATC SCHOLARSHIP OR WATERTOWN WINTER FARM SHOW - $1000

    The LATC Scholarship was founded in 2004 to recognize a Lake Area Technical College student. Scholarship will be awarded to a student who has been consistently active (or whose family has been) in the Watertown Winter Farm Show.

     

    GENE & MARY LOIS REICHLING MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - $2500

    The Gene and Mary Lois Reichling Memorial scholarship fund was created by the Reichling family in 2013. The scholarship criteria is based on need, character, an active involvement in agriculture, an involvement in a local 4-H program and/or the Watertown Winter Farm Show. To be eligible an applicant must have a cumulative 3.0 grade average and have demonstrated reputable character traits and demonstrate need for financial assistance while attending college.

     

    GARY MACK SCHOLARSHIP - $1000

    The Ag Committee established the Gary Mack Scholarship in 2023 to recognize long-time Ag Committee member, Gary Mack. Applicants and their families must also have been consistently active and involved in agriculture, 4-H, and/or the Watertown Winter Farm Show. (i.e., participant, exhibitor, worker, or committee member).
